Description
This classic 19th century folk retablo represents “La Madre Santisma de la Luz” or the Holy Mother of Light. As seen above, Mary rescues a man from the jaws of a fiery dragon in lower left. In the right quadrant, Baby Jesus picks souls from a basket held by an angel.
An all around great folk retablo – layered with allegory and symbolism throughout.
