Our Mission

As a genre of folk art, retablos became popular in New Spain (Mexico) from 1820–1920, reflecting traditions embedded in the local culture by Spanish colonization and the Catholic Church. These original pieces, which are rare, indeed can sell for upwards of $1500 thus making them unaffordable to the average person.

Retablo Art Gallery brings restored heirloom quality copies of pieces created during the period when the production of these works of devotional art was at its peak.  The pieces represented on this site were produced from the early 1700’s through the early 1900’s making them quite old.

Retablo Art Gallery has been producing and selling these lovely pieces and making them affordable for most people since 2016. At Retablo Art Gallery we are dedicated to exceeding the expectations of our customers and work diligently to add new pieces to our collection on a regular basis.
