Description
This classic 19th century retablo painting represents San Francisco de Paula. Saint Francis is the patron saint of fires, plagues and the blind, and he is almost always depicted as he is here, with a sacrificial lamb emerging from a fiery oven and “Caritas” (Charity) illuminated from above .
