Description
This rare 19th century retablo, painted on heavy gauge tin, represents “La Piedad,” sometimes also called “La Lamentacion.” This classic Piedad depicts a crucified Christ in the arms of the Madonna with the symbols of the passion in the foreground.
This retablo is attributed to Concepcion Avila – the”bee sting lip” painter.
